Continuing my Holy theme…

![]() Jacki Robinson, Charlestown High School A sketch of Jackie Robinson. This hangs in the Auditorium of the Charlestown High School in Charlestown, MA. Photo taken during the 2009 Power of an Idea awards ceremony. A photo of the tanker Acadian as it passes under the Tobin Bridge in Boston Harbor. I took this photo last weekend while attending the 2008-2009 Volvo Ocean Race festivities at Fan Pier in Boston. ![]() Tanker Acadian, Tobin Bridge

Two fish eye views of the Barking Crab Restaurant, taken this morning with a Nikon D300 and a Nikon 10.5mm fish eye lens. Both have high pass overlay filters, s-curve adjustment to the “A” channel tone curve, warp transformation and some Smart Sharpen to the lightness channel in LAB color. Orinally I had these set to go as separate posts, but one on top of another was my original intention. This attempt make this my first post with more than one photo. Camera: Nikon D300 Can anyone tell me what lens this is? Clearly the body is a Nikon D300, however, I’m curious what lens this is. Ten Points to anyone who leaves a comment with a suggestion. ![]() Nikon D300 at the 2009 Boston Marathon The 2009 Boston Marathon in the Back Bay, between Newbury Street and Boylston Street in Boston. This was about 1 mile from the finish line. ![]() Boston Marathon 2009 ![]() Boston Marathon, 2009 Finish Line A photo of the finish line area of the 2009 Boston Marathon, its 113th running. This photograph was taken on Sunday, one day prior to the actual event, on Boylston Street near the Boston Public Library. This spot marks the end of the 26.22 mile journey that starts in Hopkinton and runs all the way here to Copley Square. The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest marathon and takes place on Patriots Day, the third Monday in April, each year in Boston, Massachusetts. Camera: Nikon D300
![]() John Hancock Tower, Boston MA An interesting angle of the John Hancock Tower — a sixty story, 790 foot tall office sky scraper in Boston, Massachusetts near Copley Plaza. It is Boston’s second tallest structure behind the Prudential Tower. The John Hancock Tower was designed by renowned architects I.M. Pei and Henry N. Cobb. It’s worth noting, I.M. Pei also designed the Christian Science Plaza. The tower’s official address is 200 Clarendon Street. This photo was taken on Trinity Place, a cross street in the Back Bay connecting Saint James Avenue and Stuart Street. Reflected in this shot is the Fairmont Copley Plaza. Camera: Nikon D300
![]() MBTA Sign, Copley Square The MBTA sign in Copley Square on the corner of Dartmouth and Boylston in the Back Bay in Boston, MA. I snapped this from a car window with no real shot in mind. The Old South Church is the structure directly behind the MBTA sign. This photo ended up being a great example of the Active Vibration Reduction functionality on the Nikon 18-200mm VR Nikkor Zoom lens. Basically, the Active Mode Vibration Reduction works by compensating for large amounts of camera movements (panning, moving car, etc). By luck timing, this AF on the D300 apparently locked on the sign itself, leaving it in focus with everything else blurred. Check out some more technical here in my camera and lens reviews. The main post processing with this photo was accomplished in Lightroom. Lots of clarity, fill light, virbrance, tone curve adjustments and some lens vignetting. Sharpening, final curves and hue adjustments in Adobe Photoshop CS3. Camera: Nikon D300 ![]() Oak Aged Unearthly, By Southern Tier Brewery An oak aged variation of their popular Unearthly IPA, the Southern Tier Brewing Company kicked it up a notch with their Oak Aged Unearthly India Pale Ale. I’ve enjoyed a few myself and will say the balance of oak and hops is phenomenal. The Southern Tier Oak Aged Unearthly IPA pours clear, with an amber hue and white head. The aroma is both bitter and sweet and full of hops. The oaky finish is long and enjoyable. Not too much, just enough. Overall this beer is fantastic. This photo was taken on the beer wall of fame at my office, a collection of craft beer empties sampled over the past many months. Another fantastic barrel aged beer is the Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout by the Berkshire Brewing Company. Camera: Nikon D300 |
