Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF-S —Lens Review

The Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF-S lens is a beast. It’s a great lens but lacks a key feature that newer 300mm f/2.8 Nikon lenses have —Vibration Reduction. Overall I enjoyed my time with this lens very much. Much of my photos with this lens was spent at the Volvo Ocean Race at Fan Pier in Boston.

The 300mm f/2.8 zoom lens wighs about 7 lbs and is as solid as any lens I’ve used. It worked well in low light when dialed down to f/2.8 and gave a great depth of field when shooting at low aperture. This lens has since been replaced with the Nikon 300mm f/2.8G IF-ED AF-S VR Nikkor Lens.

Here are a few photos of the Nikon 300mm f/2.8 AF-S on my Nikon D300.
